Are The Drives For "Diversity" And "Unity" Mutually Exclusive?

As I was listening to a C-SPAN radio presentation yesterday (ironically as I was in a 'farmer's market' in which people from seemingly every part of the world were seen shopping) I listened to an interesting presentation about the need to get more female elected officials in this nation because of the consciousness and problem solving skills that they bring to the table.

The key point that caught my attention was that this group was said to be non-partisan and non-ideological.  They argued that women, regardless of their ideology and party affiliation bring certain attributes and sensibilities with them.  They even argued that women, where possible, should vacate their personal interests in party and ideology and should chose to promote a woman in to power even if they have to "cross the isle" to do so.

I can agree that it is possible for a woman voter who is a moderate to promote the "female-ness" of a given candidate over their divergent party and agree to support her IF ONLY there is not much of a gap between the voter and the candidate's ideology.   Add an extreme gap and it just is not likely.   We have already seen this to be the case in reference to conservative Republican Herman Cain and the balance of the Black Progressive oriented press.  The attacks on Cain took place long before any Black person had a chance to vote for him.  This for Black people would be in the "general election", not the Republican primary.

The call for "Group Unity" is typically made as a means of leveraging the strength of bringing individuals together to fight against a larger "adversary" on a particular battle field.

The call for "Inter-group" Diversity" is a call for the more powerful force on that playing field to yield what ever "Group Unity" that they had applied (via just means or not) to achieve their present advantage.  The group seeking to make an entrance into their circle of power asks them to yield to afford them opportunity.

Diversity and Unity Cannot Stand On Their Own

My most virulent differences with those who I am most inclined to debate with is not from their call for "unity" or "diversity".   The problem is that they do so, often, without acceptance of the more fundamental platforms of "Adherence to certain foundational principles" and, as importantly, yielding to a TRANSPARENT body which measures the effectiveness of their strategy, with the hopes of applying course correction if the "corrective feedback" indicates the requirement.

To yield your knowledge of what is "right and wrong", "what is working and what is not" because you want UNITY or DIVERSITY is the acceptance of a "self-lie" BECAUSE you want UNITY with the GROUP.

As such that same "group power" has the POWER to accept a lie about itself IF this "congregational acceptances" affords it the opportunity to avoid self-indictment.

As such the founding principles can never be allowed to be trumped by the call for UNITY and DIVERSITY.  This only benefits the incumbent regime who holds the megaphone.

The China ASEAN Free Trade Region - Keep Watch

About 8 years ago I posted an audio recording of an economic strategist who predicted that the world will one day converge into a network of regional trading zones.

They mentioned:
  • North America
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • South America
  • Middle East
(Interestingly they made no mention of Africa.   I am not sure if he assumed that Africa was lumped under the Middle East or would continue as a protectorate of these other trade blocs.)

In watching CCTV - the Chinese state television news - I learned about China ASEAN.   This is a free trade zone with China as the main hub of the economic engine and other nations in the region agreeing to build up their infrastructure in support of trade and production.

Today America, despite our massive debt represents a top shelf investment destination, including US Treasury bonds that hold our $15T debt (soon to be $16T).   The main reason why we retain this status is because there are no other alternatives that have the transparency and relative stability as does the US with its debt.

America has not seen a new regime come to power and then nationalize private investment holdings as is the case periodically in Russia, South America and parts of Africa.

You should look at "China ASEAN" as "That Alternative".

It Doesn't Matter Because It Doesn't Matter

"It Doesn't Matter Because It Doesn't Matter".

This is a saying that I came with after watching the two "Dung Producing Parties" joust each other, compelling people to follow along, compromising their own integrity in the process.

What is done on the front end to elicit a response - DOESN'T MATTER.   The attacks are often shallow, their "team" is guilty of the same thing.

The intended reaction is the intermediate state.

Finally when we consider what people are ultimately struggling to obtain "IT DOESN'T MATTER" because they end up promoting the "person" they got elected as proof of their victory, having long ago compromised themselves, understanding that "the struggle" in politics is more important than the desired end of actually obtaining their original goals.

The Incremental Value Of Consumer Amenities Is Relative To What You Already Have Access To

You probably do not have the Flash Player (Get Adobe Flash Player Here) installed for your browser or the video files are misplaced on your server!

The same light bulb and television that my son doesn't think about leaving on as he comes downstairs and turns on a different light and television is a consumer privilege that many people around the world do not have access to.

On an incremental basis the addition of one light bulb allowed the school girl shown in the video above to expand the time that she had for reading and academic pursuits.

"Self-Relations Psychotherapy" As A Start For Consciousness Reestablishment

I went searching Wikipedia for the word "sponsor" for some reason that I do not recall.

I ran into a page on "Self-Relations Psychotherapy" with the following opening paragraphs:

Self-relationship is an aspect of psychotherapy which describes and focusses on the crucial relationship between a person and their own self. Formally described in Stephen Gilligan's article: The relational self: the expanding of love beyond desire (1996), and expanded on in his book: The Courage to Love (1997), it has become a major new approach in psychotherapy and healing. It refers to a form of support, help, and assistance, usually found in psychotherapy and other therapeutic contexts, but also found in executive coaching, community building, and other forms of healing.
It takes as its starting point, that 'symptoms' are most often the sign of something trying to "wake up" within a person, causing both visible and hidden conflict. It views symptoms such as violence and withdrawal, as born of a "skill-less" attempt to awaken oneself. Self-relationship asserts that therapeutic work should always be centered on supporting this awakening process, allowing and helping it to grow, rather than immediately practicing specific 'techniques' to 'fix' or eradicate symptoms.
Accordingly, although self-relationship draws upon many distinct schools and traditions of therapy and healing, it works primarily with the flow of life, to awaken 'soul' and love in a person's experience of themselves and others. It draws upon other traditions of guidance and awakening so that powerful human experiences can be used to guide someone's process of self-awakening, which can often feel painful and confused.

Of course, the first "patient" that I thought of when I read this passage was "The Street Pirate".   Maybe his display of violence against his own community is an expression of his "love"(???).

Regardless of the motivation the call for "Sponsorship" makes sense.

There are three key aspects to sponsorship:
  1. The intent is to awaken in a person the awareness of the goodness and the gifts of who they are,
  2. It awakens one to the goodness and to the gifts and to the possibilities that are in the world, and
  3. It fosters traditions that connect and bring these things into something that has human value.

The truth is - there is no need for fancy "psychotherapy" to apply around this problem.
The problem is clear to anyone's common understanding.   It will be mitigated when the proper priority attention is applied to it.
